Balance
Anything good in life needs balance. Reserve some time for yourself.
What makes the best food great?
Whether it's the best pizza, the best burger, the best sandwich, most would say it's all about the ingredients.
Take the burger for example. A good burger will have the right bread for the bun, the juiciest meat patty, and toppings such as lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, etc. And don't forget the cheese, right?
Okay, let's analyze...let's imagine that the best cheese makes or breaks the perfect burger. What happens if we load too much of that cheese on the burger? Or what if we put too much tomato or mayo on? Or if the burger patty is too big? All of a sudden, that perfect burger isn't so perfect, is it?
What's hidden in this equation is that what makes the perfect "something" is the ratio- or balance- of all the ingredients as they go together. Balanced together they create a symphony of flavor in your mouth.
The Ratio of a Well Lived Life
A fully lived life, like the best foods, has BALANCE. Yes, life needs passion. Life needs hard work. Life needs inspiration. Life also needs a chance to recharge the batteries. Even God rested on the 7th day, the Sabbath. Even professional golfers probably don't golf on their off days.
I've talked about working hard, developing a good work ethic. I've talked about developing and executing a passion that is altruistic, serving others. I've talked about being an inspiration. Put it down at the end of the day.
Most of us work a solid work week and then play the role of "weekend warrior". Where's the time for you? Work hard, play hard. Take a break. Recharge those batteries. Even Forrest Gump decided to stop running at some point and went home. Put it away for a little bit. Reward yourself! Play hard if you want to.
You've earned it. Cheers! A one sure way to achieve life's purpose is to have an element of balance.
